Doing this will keep food in the refrigerator cold for about four hours, while the freezer will keep things frozen for around 48 hours. Make sure you have nonperishable food and water available too. Food that doesn’t require cooking is best, such as canned fruit, vegetables, and meat. Granola and protein bars, crackers, and nuts are also good for power outages.
